Synopsis: Disith and Anatoray have been at war on Prester for what seems like an eternity. A special group of citizens have formed to monitor the two nations. The only thing that separates them is a great natural phenomenon called the Grand Stream. Lavie and Claus are best friends who both suffered tragedy early in life as their fathers attempted to bring message of peace to Prester. Now that they are adults and couriers themselves they are thrust into an adventure involving a delivery of a young girl to a mysterious man who captains a ship known for its at-any-cost mentality.

In a world torn in two by war and governed by a mysterious band of people called “The Guild” – Last Exile is anything but desolate. The series starts and draws you into an intense battle on a humongous scale. The animation is not only visually brilliant but the dynamic incorporated with sound makes you really feel like you are witnessing everything live.

Yet again we have the underdogs vying for our love. Claus and Lavie had pretty tragic childhoods as their fathers died together in the war as messengers. The boys eventually end up aboard a renegade ship called Slyvana. The boys really start to build their characters here and we discover they are both determined  however while Claus plays the father figure, Lavie is the thinker among the two.

The cast of characters are all highly developed and all are interesting to see on screen. Mystery seems to be the name of the game and the characters are constantly evolving with the story which is a great attribute to Last Exile.

Last Exile is packed with elaborate battle and action scenes. You’ll be at the edge of your seat contemplating the next plot turn.
